Rzeźba usytuowana jest nad ul. Mariacką. Jej odsłonięcie odbyło się w 2013 r. „Bluesman” powstał z inicjatywy Leszka Windera, gitarzysty i kompozytora bluesowego, członka licznych zespołów, które tworzyły historię bluesa na Śląsku i w Polsce (m.in. Krzak, Śląska Grupa Bluesowa). Artysta chciał upamiętnić śląskie środowisko bluesowe za pomocą rzeźby w przestrzeni publicznej.
Rozwijając koncepcję Leszka Windera, Instytucja Kultury Katowice – Miasto Ogrodów zwróciła się do rzeźbiarza Jerzego Kędziory, autora rzeźb balansujących, i tak powstał podniebny muzyk.
Rzeźba bluesmana to postać długowłosego mężczyzny w jeansowym stroju i kapeluszu. Dość charakterystyczna sylwetka anonimowego muzyka z czasów dużego rozkwitu tej gałęzi sztuki i tego środowiska na Śląsku. Muzyk ukazany jest jakby siedział na wysokim barowym stołku i z klasycznej niemal gitary wyrzuca ciemne tony bluesowej melodii. Postać gitarzysty - ze specyficzną, ażurową gitarą - rozbijają rytmiczne bruzdy, jakby ślady organowych piszczałek lub uderzeń instrumentu perkusyjnego, a przenika je i rozbija cała fala wzburzonych, pękających bąbli i wgłębnych, obłych odcisków. Mogą one sugerować, że cała postać mężczyzny przenika uprawiana przez niego muzyka, zwłaszcza że część kompozycji wydobywa się poza postać i lekko kiwając się poszerza rytmicznymi balaskami i kulistymi krążkami postać zasadniczą. To jakby porozrywane, powiększone elementy nutowego zapisu albo też graficzne przedstawienie muzyki.

Balancing sculpture by Jerzy Kędziora - permanent exhibition
The sculpture is located above Mariacka St. Its unveiling took place in 2013. "Bluesman" was created on the initiative of Leszek Winder, a blues guitarist and composer, a member of numerous bands that made the history of blues in Silesia and Poland (including Krzak, Śląska Grupa Bluesowa). The artist wanted to commemorate the Silesian blues community with a sculpture in public space.
Developing the concept of Leszek Winder, Katowice - City of Gardens (the Krystyna Bochenek Cultural Institution) turned to the sculptor Jerzy Kędziora, the author of balancing sculptures, and this is how the sky musician was born.
The sculpture of a bluesman is a figure of a long-haired man in a denim outfit and hat. Quite a characteristic silhouette of an anonymous musician from the times of a great flourishing of this branch of art and this environment in Silesia. The musician is shown as if he is sitting on a high bar stool and throws dark tones of a blues melody from an almost classic guitar. The figure of the guitarist - with a specific, open-work guitar - is broken by rhythmic furrows, like traces of organ pipes or percussion instruments, and they are penetrated and broken by a whole wave of agitated, bursting bubbles and deep, rounded imprints. They may suggest that the whole figure of the man is permeated by the music he practices, especially since part of the composition comes out beyond the figure and, slightly swaying, broadens the main figure with rhythmic balusters and spherical discs. It is like torn, enlarged elements of a musical notation or a graphic representation of music.
